Engine Development
Engine Program
The first objective in the engine development process was a detailed inspection and evaluation of the engines and their sub components. The purpose was to identify any potential weaknesses in the stock components and evaluate the types of component upgrades required at each level of our targeted power outputs. Blocks were sonic tested, cylinder heads flowed and all component parts carefully evaluated. Base line dyno runs were also made of the stock engines.

Our initial findings clearly showed that the 5.7 and 6.1 HEMI platforms were ideal candidates capable of producing whatever power levels we desired. We were extremely impressed with the design of these engines as they clearly exceeded our initial expectations in many regards.

As we identified specific components required for upgrade, not surprisingly, we found that virtually none of the required pieces were being produced. At this point we started having components produced to our specifications that would allow us to make massive horsepower reliably including:
  • Forged aluminum pistons with tool steel pins and locks. 2618 high strength material, perfect ring groove to skirt squareness, pressure balance groove, and fully banded skirt design for increased skirt stability with tool steel wrist pins and locks.
  • High performance piston rings with plasma moly steel top ring, ductile iron second ring and chrome oil ring
  • I-Beam connecting rods CNC machined from 4340 vacuum degassed steel. 100% individually maganafluxed, shot peened to military specs. ARP 2000 7/16" bolts (220,000 psi).
  • Main studs from forged 8740 chrome moly, heat treated with rolled threads (200,000 psi)
  • Head studs from forged 8740 chrome moly, heat treated with rolled threads (200,000 psi)
  • Billet steel camshafts with several proprietary lobe profiles for normally aspirated and forced induction applications
  • Upgraded valve springs available for extended high RPM applications
  • 6.1 HEMI single plane aluminum intake manifold
