Frequently Asked Questions

Will XV convert my car into an XV car?
XV is happy to convert your existing classic Mopar into an XV supercar using all our unique components and matched systems. This can include a complete restoration of the car with all body work and show quality paint job. We will work with cars already restored, but we will not badge them as XV cars if we have not done the body and paint work.

Will XV Motorsports be offering your parts for Mopar A-Body cars?
We have had so many requests from A-Body owners that we have now committed ourselves to developing many of our components for the A-Body cars as well. As soon as we complete the B-Body suspension development work, we will begin development on the A-Body systems.

Will XV Motorsports build cars other than Mopars?
We are receiving many requests to do the same development work on other brands of automobiles. At this time we do not have any specific plans to build other brands of cars, butif the demand for our cars is high we almost certainly will build other types of cars.

Will XV Motorsports build parts for anything besides Mopars?
Major systems development for other brands of vehicles will not be undertaken unless we commit to build complete vehicles. However, there are some components we may offer for other brands of vehicles.

Are your suspension products only installed by XV?
We are happy to sell our suspension system products to have others install them. The XV Level I suspension system can be installed by an experienced mechanic as it is all stock type components that bolt in. The XV Level II suspension system requires some welding and precise fitment. It is not designed such that the average do-it-yourselfer can install it at home. Setting up the rear end correctly is the most challenging part as it requires removal of the stock leaf spring brackets and welding on new brackets to the housing. We highly recommend using an experienced chassis shop for this or using a shop recommended by XV. XV Chassis stiffening components, other than the engine compartment brace are weld on components and require a shop to do it, unless you can competently weld and have the proper equipment to do so.

Does XV offer installation of its components?
XV Motorsports will install our components, especially our Level II suspension system, chassis stiffening components, engines, interiors and more. We are happy to install many of the components we sell, but generally on a system, or major component basis.

What's involved with installing the XV Level II suspension system?
The XV Level II suspension requires some welding as it is not a direct bolt on system. On the front end, additional holes need to be drilled in the front frame rails to mount the aluminum K-Member. Sleeves are inserted in these holes and welded into place to prevent any distortion of the frame rail when tightening the mounting hardware for the K-Member. A pre-welded bracket assembly must be welded to the frame rail inside the shock tower in the inner fender well. This bracket mounts the upper control arm and also acts as the upper mount for the coilover shock. Additionally, a machined insert must be tig-welded into the base of the steering column. A roller bearing gets inserted into this and is held into place by a retaining clip. The steering column shaft gets polished where it will be in contact with the roller bearing. XV will do this install if you send us your shaft as it is critical that it is performed correctly. At the rear of the car, existing leaf spring perched must be removed from the axle housing. New brackets for the lower links and coilover shocks, as well as the panhard bar and upper link get welded to the axle housing. Upper mounts for the coilovers and the panhard bar must be welded to the frame rails. Lastly, a mount and plate for the upper link must be welded to the rear floor pan. It is critical that the rear end components are installed correctly or the car will not drive straight or have erratic handling characteristics. Detailed instructions and templates will accompany the kit.

Why wasn't the Level II suspension made as a bolt on kit?
We endeavoured to build the ultimate, no compromises suspension system for these cars. A purely bolt on setup would have created far too many compromises on top of those inherent in the vehicle itself. The XV Level II suspension was created as there was (and is) nothing available that meets our requirements for the cars we build. It was designed to meet our needs for the cars we wished to build. We are happy to sell this system to others, but to install it requires specialized experience and equipment. We strongly recommend anyone interested in this system use an experienced chassis shop to install it, or let us, or one of our recommended shops do it for you.

What engine packages will you support for the XV Level II suspension?
We will not be supporting every possible engine package that could be used in these vehicles for the Level II suspension. Our plans are to support the 5.7/6.1 HEMI, LA, RB and 426 HEMI motors. Support means having motor mounts, headers and oiling systems to make these engines fit. If your application is not immediately available or won't be supported, XV will do custom headers, mounts and oil pans on vehicles we are installing the system on, or you can have custom pieces fabricated on your own.

Do you build engines other than the 5.7/6.1 HEMI?
XV Motorsports believes strongly on the late model, 5.7 / 6.1 HEMI platform and is developing many high performance and race parts for them. The engine has tremendous power to weight and power to displacement capabilities. This is the only engine platform we are currently building.

Do you support late model applications with 5.7 or 6.1 HEMI engines?
Yes and no. We are happy to offer upgraded internals and engine components for late model vehicles equipped with 5.7 and 6.1 HEMI engines. However, until there are comprehensive tools to re-program the factory timing and fuel delivery, we will not be delivering application specific parts for these vehicles and certain modifications we make to these motors are not recommended to late model vehicles until tools which allow proper tuning are available. When these tools do become available, we will be more than ready and willing to provide a full array of components from street to full race for late model vehicles.
