Track Testing of Level II Suspension and Brakes Complete - Pictures
04/21/2006

XV Motorsports has completed track testing and dial in of th XV Level II Suspension and XV Level II Brake System for 70 to 74 E-Body Mopars.

The XV Level II Suspension is a complete redesign of the factory Mopar suspension featuring an SLA Double A-Arm setup wit rack and pinion steeering and completely revised suspension geometry. The front components include a custom K-Member, Upper and Lower control Arms, Spindles and Steering Rack all made of aluminum, reducing vehicle weight where it will best benefit the vehicles handling.

These components replace the factory K-Member, torsion bars, steering box, contol arms, strut rods, spindles and all steering linkages. The factory steering column is also enhanced with this system by installing a roller bearing in the end of the steering column to support the steering shaft.

At the rear of the car, the XV Level II Suspension replaces the factory leaf springs with a three link rear suspension and panhard bar, featuring billet aluminum lower links, adjustable upper link to set pinion angle and an adjustable panhard bar. The three link rear with panhard bar offers optimized geometry and significantly improved axle travel over the leaf springs.

The system is completed with custom valved coilover shock absorbers, matched spring rates and matching front and rear tubular anti-roll bars. The coilover suspension offers adjustable ride height and vast array spring rate choices. The front and rear anti-roll bars are of the splined shaft type typically seen on race cars, with billet aluminum arms and spherical rod ends attaching them to the suspension components. Anti-roll bars of this type are available in a broad range of rates for full competition applications.

The XV Level II SUspension was designed from the ground up to be optimized for use with modern ultra high performance, low profile tires. The system also allows the ability to run much wider tires (275 in front and at least 315 in rear) as well as lowering the vehicle while maintaining optimal suspension geometry. Both of which improve vehicle handling and performance.

The system was designed for high performance street driving, as well as on track performance, but our damper and spring rates were dialed in to still provide acceptable levels of driver comfort in daily driving conditions. For full competition road race applications, damper settings, coil spring and anti-roll bar bar rates can be adjusted for full competition conditions.

This is the most comprehensive, fully engineered and advanced suspension system ever designed for Classic Mopar Musclecars delivering performance levels comparable with the best modern high performance vehicles.
